Prof. Dr. Samih Abubaker
December 31, 2024 2024-12-31 9:14Professor S. Abubaker was born on December 13, 1955, in Jordan. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Al-Balqa` Applied University, a position he has held since June 13, 2019. Previously, he also held the deanship from September 9, 2012, to September 7, 2016.
With over 30 years of experience in vegetable production, farming systems, sustainability, resource management, and poverty reduction, Professor Abubaker has made significant contributions to the field. He has been a visiting fellow at several prestigious universities worldwide, including Rutgers, Washington State University, Rostock, Technical University of Munich, Humboldt University in Berlin, and the University of Bologna, focusing on teaching and development issues.
In addition to his academic roles, he is an editorial board member and reviewer for various scientific journals and has evaluated major research proposals for national and international funding bodies. He is an active member of the Management Committee for the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action FA 1105 and serves as the chairman of the Agro-Environmental Committee of the Jordan Society for Scientific Research (JSSR). Additionally, he contributes to several national committees, including those focused on organic farming and overseeing the school curriculum.
Professor Abubaker has participated in over forty international conferences and chaired the 11th Arab Plant Protection Congress held in Amman in 2014. He has published more than sixty scientific papers and has received numerous prestigious medals and awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field.
